Editorial policy, sources and corrections

First Home Buyers Guide NZ (FHBG) is an information-only planning product. It is not a lender, valuation service, law firm or financial-advice provider. This page explains what FHBG publishes, how claims should be supported, and how commercial handoffs are disclosed.

Policy reviewed: 13 July 2026

Editorial scope

Practical NZ first-home-buyer explanations, checklists, decision tools, source-backed updates and clearly labelled illustrative examples.

Evidence standard

Material policy, eligibility, rate and market claims need a named source, working link, relevant source date and review date.

Calculator standard

Calculators expose material assumptions, distinguish planning estimates from lender decisions, and include deterministic regression fixtures.

Freshness standard

A page date records a real review or material change—not the time a request, build or sitemap happened. Stale drafts may be archived and noindexed.

Source hierarchy

Government and regulators

Policy, eligibility and regulatory claims should link to the responsible primary agency and state an as-of or review date.

Buyer education and market evidence

Explanatory content may use reputable public guidance and dated datasets. A source must support the specific claim; a homepage link alone is not sufficient for a material number.

Legacy and illustrative data

Inherited suburb fields without verifiable provenance are labelled illustrative, carry a source-verification-pending notice, and must not be presented as current valuations, rankings or school assessments. FHBG will replace those fields cohort-by-cohort with dated evidence rather than manufacture freshness.

Commercial disclosure

FHBG has no active provider panel, paid placement, or commission arrangement. If that changes, the relationship and its effect on placement or data handling must be disclosed before activation.

Corrections and contact

Send the page URL, disputed statement and supporting primary source through the contact form. Material corrections should update the page review date and, where useful, explain the change. FHBG does not promise an unpublished email address or response time.

Automation and review

Software and AI-assisted workflows may help identify source debt, draft structure, test calculations and flag inconsistent claims. They are not evidence. A publishable page must still pass source, date, calculation, disclosure, metadata and route-parity checks. Drafts that do not pass are corrected, archived/noindexed, or withheld from the public index.
